Expeditions in 09.12.16 – 06.01.17 – 02.02.17 (Length 15 to 17 days).
The Mercedarian Peak is the eighth highest mountain in the Americas. Few andinistas, in relation to the Aconcagua for example, venture into the Mercedarian, due to the access a bit more difficult. It has two main access route, a by Cuesta Blanca and other glacier del Caballito. The main difficulty for these routes is the altitude and thin air.
LOGISTICS
Day 1 – arrival to Mendoza-900 m. Arrival to Mendoza and transfer to the Hotel.
Day 2 – Mendoza the Barreal 1640m; On this day we will make review, rent or purchase of equipment. Pick up and stay in a refuge Barreal. Including lunch, dinner and breakfast.
Day 3 – Transfer of Barreal until the Refuge Laguna Blanca 3100 m. A van will take us the Refuge Laguna Blanca. Go camping at this location
Day 4 – Laguna Blanca the 3600 Guanaquitos. Rise of 520m with the mules loaded.
Day 5 – day acclimatization-4500. Hike to the glacier Caballito 4300m.
Day 6 – Cuesta Blanca-4400 to Guanaquitos-7:00.
Day 7 – Cuesta Blanca-Pirca of Indio-5200m. 5:00 walk from the de Indio Pirca 5200m.
Day 8 – Acclimatization and rest we will visit the Inca ruins.
Day 9 – Pirca del Indio the Hoyada 5600m
Day 10 – Day of Ridge-the Summit 6720m Hoyada and return the Hoyada. Leaving the 3:00 in the morning are 9:00 to the Summit.
Day 12 – descent to 3200 Guanaquito
Day 13 – Guanaquitos the Barreal 1650 m. A van to pick us up in Laguna Blanca and head for Barreal.
Day 14 – Barreal-airport of Mendoza.
